Europe 2016: Day Fifteen

Today our destination was Kristallwelton, a museum created to celebrate Swarovski crystal. We caught the shuttlebus from Innsbruck station, it was incredibly easy to spot as it was decorated with crystal designs. The timetable can be found on the website.

With our Innsbruck card we were able to get free admission to both the museum and on the bus.
There was a journey into the beautiful mountains and before I knew it we were there. There was lots to see. The museum is divided into 16 different rooms, each with a different theme and created by different artists. I absolutely adored it, it superseded all my expectations.

We decided to stop for lunch at the restaurant there. It wasn’t exactly cheap but the food was really good and we followed it up with the most beautiful slice of Mozart cake. The setting of the restaurant was really wonderful, looking out upon the mountains and the crystal clouds.

After lunch we explored the museum gardens. It was really wonderful, the sun was shining and there was lots to see. We enjoyed getting lost in the maze, wondered around the crystal clouds and I absolutely adored the mirror pond. I absolutely recommend a visit.

We caught the shuttlebus back to the town centre and headed over to Audioversum, a museum about the world of sound. We went there because it was free with our Innbruck card and we had no real expectations but actually it was really fun. It was practically empty to visit and they had a special exhibition on, full of fun optical illusions and the science behind them. Upstairs there was the regular exhibition and it was a perfect combination of fun and informative, with a number of games to play using sound.

That evening we went to Stiftskeller for dinner, a traditional restaurant. I had made a reservation online beforehand and it was a good idea as it was absolutely packed. The meal was great, quick friendly service and delicious food!
